APi Construction secures additional work in Missouri
APi Construction has worked on-site for the past 13 months, operating under a separate contract to insulate the air quality control systems (AQCS) for both Iatan Units 1 and 2.
The most recent contract includes the supply and installation on the new Alstom Unit 2.
“We’re pleased that Alstom selected API for the second phase of this important project,” said Jerry Pederson, API’s vice president of construction.
The Unit is a supercritical 850 megawatt coal-fired boiler and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) equipment. It requires nearly 460,000 square feet of insulation and lagging. APi Construction will also insulate about 12,700 linear feet of boiler piping.
Once the project is complete, Iatan will be the largest coal-fired generating facility in the state of Missouri.
Pederson and Assistant Project Manager, Mason Pavel, completed the quantitative take-off and developed the proposal pricing throughout the 3rd Quarter 2008. Work is scheduled to begin in March 2009 and conclude one year later.
“Our goal is to continue working safely and productively in order to get this plant on line in 2010,” Pederson said.
