API GROUP WELCOMES MIKE SHANDS
APi Group welcomes Mike Shands
He joins as the director of training and development
August 21, 2007 - Mike Shands, his wife, Lisa, and daughter, Hannah, recently arrived to APi Group from West Point, NY where he served as the Policy and Regulations Advisor to the Corps Commandant and Brigade Commander. Mike retired from the Army after 23 years of active service.
Mike will serve as APi Group’s Director of Training and Development. His immediate responsibilities include management of APi’s Leadership Development Program, Warrior Program and Group-wide leadership and training initiatives.
Some of Mike’s accomplishments include:
* A tour of duty in Afghanistan where he was instrumental in the creation of the Afghan Army’s Military Academy
* Served as a Tactical Officer and instructor at West Point from 2004 -2006
* Commanded two Military Police Companies
* Served as a Senior Noncommissioned Operator with Army Special Forces
* Holds a Masters of Arts Degree in Business and Organizational Security Management and a Masters of Science Degree in Leadership Development. He is also a Lean / Six Sigma Black Belt
