DOODY MECHANICAL RECEIVES CONTRACT FOR MAJOR HOSPITAL EXPANSION

Doody Mechanical was recently awarded the multi-phase project for the University of Minnesota’s Children Hospital-Fairview in Minneapolis. Kraus-Anderson Construction Company’s Minneapolis Division will lead the construction efforts set to break ground in mid-May 2008.
This tax exempt project will consist of a new children’s hospital (shown at left), an expansion to the existing ED/OR Departments and renovation of the existing Imaging, ED, NICU areas of the existing hospital. The size of the new children’s hospital will be approximately 228,000 square feet, the ED/OR expansion will be approximately 32,000 square feet and the renovation area is about 50,000 square feet. In addition, a 2 ½ story, underground parking structure will be constructed under the new hospital for improved patient access to the new facility.
This project is being led by Doody Mechanical’s Vice President, Tim Daly. Tim will serve as the project executive and be responsible for all aspects of the project. He will be heavily focused on all value management exercises and pre-construction efforts. Kevin Wargin will be the senior project manager in charge of the construction phase and Bill Roskos will be the day-to-day on-site project manager.
Doody will also utilize BIM (Building Information Modeling) for all coordination efforts throughout the construction phase of this project. This effort will be led by Doody Mechanical’s BIM Coordination Specialist, Randy Strain. Randy be in charge of all coordination efforts and will run weekly 3-D Coordination meetings for all trades throughout the project’s duration. The field crew will be under the direction of Tom Dykema, Doody’s Project Superintendent.
This project is scheduled to begin in May 2008 and finish in October 2010.
