College of DuPage project announcement

May 27, 2010 - May 27, 2010 - LeJeune Steel Co. returns to the College of DuPage campus in Illinois, for its third project. The college plans to build a 60,000-square-feet, three-story Culinary and Hospitality Center.

The building is to become the first LEED certified Culinary and Hospitality Center in the United States, according to the College of DuPage website.

"We're building this facility with industry growth and jobs in mind," said College of DuPage President Robert L. Breuder. "The food service and restaurant industry is one of the nation's largest private-sector employers, with an additional two million new jobs expected in the next seven years."

LeJeune will provide 300 tons of structural steel, fabricated by its sister company Wisconsin Structural Steel. LeJeune will also provide 30 tons of metal bar joist.

LeJeune Detailers Jim Talley and Gary Kassera are responsible for developing the project into a 3D model.

The Culinary and Hospital Center will feature a 150-seat fine dining restaurant and kitchens; winter garden lobby; culinary market and amphitheater; bakeshops; classrooms, hotel rooms and more. The project is scheduled for completion fall semester 2011.
