With The Jamar Company's record-breaking financial results and President Mike McParlan's embrace of company-wide initiatives, such as LEAN, LEED and BIM, McParlan earned the Lee Anderson Award for leadership.

"I feel fortunate," McParlan said. "I've had the table set for me with the leadership institute, training, executive coaching and more. If that wasn't enough, to receive an award from the man who made it possible - that's amazing!"

The award is presented to an individual who is committed to leadership development, exhibits ethics and integrity in all decision-making and displays a willingness to help across company lines.

NYCO Inc. and VFP Fire Systems were awarded the STEPs Award for safety and loss prevention while sister company APi Electric earned the John "Jack" Wien Award for safety and loss prevention.

"[Safety Manager] Jim McKinnon and our entire staff have worked passionately to promote a safety culture," said APi Electric President, Brad Boos. "Winning this prestigious safety award is a confirmation of our efforts. Now we must continue to improve."

To receive awards in safety and loss prevention, companies must have an OSHA Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) less than 3.0; an OSHA Frequency Rate (FR) of 0.0; and have incurred loss cost per hour less than $0.30. Companies must also show its commitment to the STEPs program and have an established internal safety committee.
