WSFP EMPLOYEE BECOMES LEED AP

September 15, 2009 - Sept. 15, 2009 - Operations Manager Marinus Both, from WESTERN STATES FIRE PROTECTION CO., earned the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Accredited Professional credential. Western States Fire Protection Co. is a full-service contractor with 26 locations West of the Mississippi.

After he studied shipbuilding in the Netherlands, Mr. Both began his career in the fire protection industry in 1988.

Mr. Both began working for Western States Fire Protection Co. in 1992. After he transferred to the Las Vegas office in 1996 he was promoted to design manager in 2005. He became the operations manager in 2007.

Mr. Both is a NICET Level IV and a principal member of the NFPA committees on fire pumps and standpipes. He is married with two daughters and one son.

Western States Fire Protection Co. currently has two LEED Accredited Professionals on staff, with more scheduled to test in the near future.
LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process. LEED Accredited Professionals have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System.

The Green Building Certification Institute, established with the support of the U.S. Green Building Council, handles exam development and delivery of the credentials program.

We Train Leaders

At WSFP we pride ourselves on our people. Part of what drives our people to be the best is the extensive training we provide. Every person in every phase of the operation has the opportunity to expand on their everyday skills. From the Corporate Design Center, where we train in design and project management, to the individual branch offices, where field personnel have the chance to fine tune their skills on actual systems.

Our Kansas City Training Room system was designed by our team and installed by a Local 314 apprenticeship class. The room's system offers hands-on training for field installers, and visualization for our designers, clients and AHJs. There are nine systems using the latest technology along with a location built to install a fire pump.

Our Albuquerque Training Room offers access to different parts of systems and a monthly class focused on a variety of topics. The continued training provides the Albuquerque field and office personnel with a competitive edge over the local competition.
