Twin City Garage Door Company recently won the Monstrous Garage Door Contest competition at the 2006 International Door Association convention in Las Vegas for their work on the Champion Air hanger at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport.

Lisa Donabauer accepted one of five awards given out for "monstrous jobs" from a pool of hundreds of contestants.

The International Door Association (IDA) provides programs and services to door and access systems dealers, for the express purpose of enhancing their value and professionalism.

Q - Why is the need for a door so far off the ground?

A - The purpose of this door is to create an opening above the hanger door which allows for the height of the tail fin of a passenger jet to the hanger.

Nicknamed “Doorway to Heaven” this door is a 16’x22’ Midland 2” Energy Saver Garage Door operated by a Micanan trolley opener. When in the closed, the bottom section sits forty feet off the ground.
