Illinois at Chicago (UIC) South Campus Development project. The
project consists of two distinct

Residence Halls are a 4 building assembly of residential
towers on the southern half of the site.
- The buildings parallel assemblies of a 3,000 seat Convention
Center, 150 seat Event Center, and academic building on the
northern half of the site.
The
750 room towers will primarily be a concrete structure.
LeJeune will have approximately 1,300 tons of steel
to fabricate
for these
five buildings.

The UIC Forum
The Jewel
of the project will be the Forum building. The structure
features 5 Trusses and 2 end wall frames with a
124' span. The
W36 top cords will be rolled to feature a sloping roof line.
Nearly half of the structural steel will be architecturally
exposed to
feature the trellis overhand system. The most substantial elements
of the project will be the single 4
foot diameter pipe column which reaches to a height of over
120 feet. A 60 inch deep plate girder with a 140 foot length
frames into the pipe column to increase stability. |
