WESTERN
STATES FIRE PROTECTION INSTALLED A FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM TO PROTECT
WYNN MOUNTAIN IN LAS VEGAS
| |
What happens
when you build a $2 billion hotel on the Las Vegas strip and
you do not like the view across the street? Well, if you are
Steve Wynn, you build a $130 million mountain, plant 50 year
old trees
all over it (instant forest) add a million
gallon lake with waterfalls and you have a fantastic showpiece,
blocking all you do not wish to see.
What happens when worry sets in, about “the mountain” burning
down and your investment in a beautiful living pine
forest being lost? You call the “fire scientists” at
Western States Fire Protection.
With no fire codes and no plans or
specifications to guide them, Western States Fire Protection
designed and installed an automatic fire suppression system
like
no other. |
| |
The systems
consists of fire pumps drawing water from the lake to supply
20 deluge systems, 360 open nozzles and 22 oscillating turret
nozzles. It can be operated manually or be triggered by smoke
reading cameras and flame detectors.
The entire installation took less than six weeks, with support from Western
States Fire Protection's Denver headquarters and various branch offices.
In addition
to the work done at Wynn Mountain, Western States Fire Protection
also installed 20,000 sprinkler heads at the Wynn property casino and low-rise
hotel. |
