Communication
Systems, Inc. installed a fire alarm system to protect the
Lake Hotel in Yellowstone National Park.
They were selected
through direct negotiation to provide design, engineering,
project management, equipment, programming, checkout and
certification. A
project like this normally takes several months but they
were able to complete it in six weeks.
The
Lake Hotel is the oldest hotel in Yellowstone National
Park. It was built on
a site long known as a meeting place for Native Americans,
trappers, and mountain men. It is the oldest inhabited wood
structure
in the National Park Service.
Guests
were
first housed
there
in 1891 when rates were $4.00 a day
and included meals.

Notifier
Onyx NFS-3030 Fire Alarm System
|
The
Notifier Onyx NFS-3030 Intelligent Fire Alarm System with
Voice Evacuation was selected to protect The Lake Hotel
and its guests.
Information
is critical to fire evacuation personnel. The NFS-3030
is able to present vital information to operators concerning
a fire situation, fire progression, and evacuation
details.
The
NFS-3030 is designed for medium to large-scale facilities.
It is ideally
suited for applications
where fire emergency detection and evacuation are critical.
The NFS-3030 supports up to 3,180
intelligent addressable field devices such as smoke detectors
and speaker strobes. Over
830 field devices were installed in The Lake Hotel.

Wireless Detector in Ceiling by Lobby
Fireplace.
|
In the
dining room and main
lobby area Communication Systems, Inc. utilized the Notifier
RFX (Radio Frequency Control Detection) Wireless Gateway
and the SDRF-751 Wireless Smoke Detectors to avoid having
to install wires. RFX is often used in
cultural/heritage properties such as museums, libraries,
state and federal buildings.

RFX Wireless and VCM Voice Control.
|
The RFX
Gateway can communicate with up to four remote receivers.
The RFX-R receivers monitor wireless signals from up to 80
wireless smoke detectors. They transmit the status of those
detectors via communication wiring to the RFX gateway. The
RFX gateway in turn connects to a NOTIFIER intelligent panel
via the Signaling Line Circuit (SLC) loop. The SLC loop gives
each wireless smoke detector its own address and custom status indication.
