Lean Construction

"Lean construction is about best practices, continuous improvement and never being satisfied that's why our leaders are committed to it and every employee will be trained in the Lean process." - Ted Angelo, Grunau Co. Executive Vice President
WE UNDERSTAND EFFICIENCY.
At APi Group, we understand that efficiency drives both productivity and client satisfaction. Our goal is to provide greater value to our customers by continuing to find new ways to improve our products and performance. That's why our vision is to integrate Lean construction concepts throughout our entire organization, making it part of our company culture. In fact, we stand so firmly behind the Lean concept that we're implementing Lean Leader training to provide each of our companies with their own Lean practitioner.
WE PROVIDE GREATER VALUE.
Waste in the office, shops and on job sites leads to people waiting around, excess inventory, misplaced tools and materials, and workflow bottlenecks. The core of Lean is to maximize value while minimizing waste, and utilizing the power of our people to do so. At APi Group, employees are encouraged and empowered to make recommendations that will cut waste.
WE'RE DEVELOPING A LEAN CULTURE TO:
- Achieve greater productivity and quality
- Reduce start-up time
- Prevent mistakes and rework
- Determine best practices
- Standardize procedures
- Keep work sites clean and organized
- Decrease material costs
- Increase fuel cost savings
WE'RE ON OUR WAY.
Throughout every step of our processes, we'll strive to use Lean principles to keep your project on time and within budget. We'll continuously look at how we can be most efficient, from the very first drawing to the final installation. And we'll use Lean as a tool to further increase the value we've delivered to our customers for decades.
Pre-Planning Coordination
Lean spans from the office to the field. Whether our people are behind a desk or out on the job site, they'll know and understand the power of maximizing time.
Creating efficiencies is a key component of Lean, and that's why we'll work as a team in the pre-planning phase to fully utilize our time. From finding a better way to create invoices, to using technology to locate files, we'll strive to make every minute count. As an organization, we'll practice Lean principles while planning your project.
Job Site Planning
A vital part of making Lean a success is teamwork. By incorporating Lean throughout APi Group, we'll be able to:
- Simplify weekly meetings
- Coordinate between various trades on site
- Identify problems, hazards and constraints
- Track delays for project history
- Keep communication open between all members of the project team
Material Handling
Studies show that 35 to 40% of construction time is spent on material movement. Lean practices will address this issue, by creating efficiency in the day-to-day operations of your project. These efficiencies will be evident across all aspects of construction including site access; equipment and material delivery directly to the job site; truck unloading; housekeeping and trash removal; site layout; vendor coordination and more.
5S: A Lean Tool
5S is a five-step process of sorting, straightening, sweeping, scheduling, and sustaining to reduce waste. This Lean tool helps us organize so items can be found in 30 seconds or less. APi Group companies started this process in our vehicles and are continuing to implement in offices, shops and on job sites.
WE CAN BE YOUR PARTNER

Simply put, we're committed to offering the finest customer-driven service while finding new and better ways to maximize results and minimize waste.
