In an effort to strengthen the industry, Vipond's proactive leadership participates in many national and local construction associations, including the Canadian Automatic Sprinkler Association, Joint Training and Apprenticeship Committee and the Canadian Construction Association.

Vipond's leadership is directly instrumental by securing improvements in technical training curriculum, introduction and implementation of pensions for installation personnel, and labour agreements.

In 2001, Vipond introduced and continues to sponsor the National Safety Award and Gordon M. Vipond Memorial Trophy, which has been presented annually through the Canadian Construction Association.
