Industrial Sprinkler Corp., a St. Paul, Minn., fire protection company founded in 1954, is acquired by Lee R. Anderson and A.P.I.

A.P.I. acquires Anco Products, Inc., a manufacturer of certified insulation products and flexible air ducts.1

API Supply, a sales and rental organization specializing in aerial work platforms, is established in St. Paul, Minn.

The Jamar Company acquires ASDCO, a wholesale building materials distributor in northern Minnesota.

Twin City Garage Door is the area's largest full-service garage door company.

Canadian fire protection company Vipond, Inc. joins the A.P.I. family. Its divisions, Vipond Fire Protection and Vipond Systems Group, bring an array of capabilities to A.P.I.

A.P.I., Inc., becomes APi Group, Inc.
APi Group acquires Lakehead Electric, an electrical contractor for industrial projects with the pulp and paper, mining and electrical-generating industries. -
1998
Vipond Fire Protection, Ltd., based in the United Kingdom, joins APi Group.

APi Group establishes Western States Fire Company of Alaska with fire protection and safety experts capable in all areas of design, installation and maintenance.
Halon Banking Systems, a division of APi Systems Group is established. HBS is dedicated to the effective and environmentally responsible management, sale, redeployment and destruction of Halon. -
2000
Communication Systems, Inc., joins the APi family. CSI is a special systems integrator that provides its clients with total solutions for their special systems needs. The solutions include: design, code compliance verification, installation, testing, certifications and ongoing support.
APi Systems Group, incorporated in 1989, is acquired by APi Group.
Based in Illinois and incorporated in 1995, Alliance Fire Protection joins the APi Group family.
United States Fire Protection, Inc., incorporated in 1986, joins the APi Group family. -
2001
Incorporated in 1959, Doody Mechanical joins the APi Group family. The mechanical contractor serves the residential, commercial and industrial sectors with divisions: Doody Mechanical Services and United Sheet Metal.
APi Group acquires Northern Fire & Communication, a low-voltage systems integrator that serves the Montana area.
Thompson Electric joins APi Group. -
2003
Lakehead Electric changes name to APi Electric Company.
Thompson Electric merges into APi Electric.
The Jamar Company opens an office in Green Bay, Wis. which brings significant power boiler retrofit and industrial piping capabilities to Jamar and APi Group. -
2004
Security Fire Protection, Inc., a quality contractor with a special capability and reputation in refrigerated/frozen storage and distribution facilities, joins APi Group.
Classic Industrial Services, Inc. of Louisiana joins APi Group. Incorporated in 1987, Classic is one of the largest specialty contractors in the South, providing thermal insulation, scaffolding, siding, steam and electric tracing systems, refractory, fireproofing and firestop systems for the power generation, petrochemical, pulp, and paper industries. -
2005
Davis-Ulmer Sprinkler Company of New York joins the APi Group family. Davis-Ulmer offers turnkey solutions for fire sprinklers, suppression, and alarm and detection.
APi Group welcomes Larson Electric Systems. -
2006
The Grunau Company joins the APi Group family. Grunau skilled professionals design, install and service mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and specialized electrical systems. Grunau offers Grunau Metals, Grunau Co. of Indiana, and Grunau Transportation.
APi Group acquires the Garage Door Store in Minnesota. GDS offers reliable service and top quality residential and commercial garage doors and openers. -
2007
APi Group establishes APi National Service Group to serve clients of the fire protection industry at their nationwide locations.
Tessier's, Inc. joins the APi Group family with services to install and design mechanical systems, including plumbing, heating, air conditioning and temperature controls.
Davis-Ulmer acquires W & M Sprinkler Company, Inc., expanding their base from New York to Connecticut.
International Fire Protection serves a client base in 14 Southern states and joins the APi Group family.
Serving the Atlantic City casino markets, Rich Fire Protection, Inc. joins the APi Group family. -
2008
L & H Services, Inc., of Alabama joins the APi Group family under Classic Industrial Services.
Larson Electric Systems merges into APi Electric as APi Electric Twin Cities.
Delta Fire Systems, Inc., of Salt Lake City joins the APi Group family. Delta is a leader in the installation of pre-action, foam, deluge, ultra high speed, carbon dioxide and other specialty systems. It serves a client base in several western states including, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.
NYCO, Inc., joins the APi Group family. NYCO is a mechanical insulation contractor based in Inver Grove Heights, Minn. It specializes in insulating piping, ductwork, tanks, vessels, boilers and other equipment for the commercial and industrial markets in the Upper Midwest. -
2009
Sister companies Northern Fire and Communication Systems, Inc. merged to form APi Systems Integrators.
APi Group establishes APi CAD Services to provide BIM and CAD blueprints to the industry's specialty construction companies.
United Piping, Inc. (UPI) joins the APi Group family. UPI is a general and mechanical contracting company specializing in pipeline facility construction and maintenance for the oil and gas industry.
APi Group welcomes Island Fire Sprinkler, a full-service sprinkler contractor that specializes in the design and installation of fire suppression piping systems for the high-rise markets of New York City.
Maryland's high-performing Reliance Fire Protection, Inc. joins APi Group. -
