Andy McCleery is the CEO and president of Viking Automatic Sprinkler Co. and VFP Fire Systems. Viking and VFP inspect, maintain, and install fire protection and life safety systems with the single purpose of saving lives and property.
Prior to joining APi, McCleery served eight years as an infantry officer after graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1998. He led numerous units during his six years in the renowned 101st Airborne Division to include multiple company commands during combat operations. He left the military after serving his last year with the Army’s ceremonial unit Washington D.C., the “Old Guard,” which is known for guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery.
McCleery began at APi Group through its Leader Development Program (LDP) in 2006. In 2007 McCleery was selected as the general manager of Anco Products, a specialty insulation manufacturer, and was subsequently promoted to president and CEO. He led at Anco with a focus on innovation and new product development allowing the company to capitalize on opportunities that did not previously exist.
In early 2011 McCleery briefly assumed leadership responsibilities at APi Distribution, APi Group’s Insulation Distribution business, before being selected to lead at Viking and VFP in July of 2011.
Both McCleery and his wife, Heather, are graduates of West Point, and both were deployed numerous times during their military careers. They reside in Mahtomedi, MN and have three children, Rachael, AJ and Allison. McCleery grew up in Tucson, Arizona and feels like there is no excuse for how cold it gets in Minnesota (the team at Viking and VFP believes he must be getting soft after his Army days)!
