Gene Postma is chief operating officer for APi Group Inc., a multi-billion-dollar parent company to over 40 independently managed life safety, energy, specialty construction and infrastructure companies located in over 200 locations worldwide.
After high school graduation, Gene spent 10 years as a carpenter/foreman and became a superintendent. In 1987 he enrolled at Iowa State University to earn a Civil/Construction Engineering degree, and graduated with distinction. After one year as a project engineer with Cherne Contracting, Postma began a 12 year career with EFCO, first as a project/design engineer and finished as senior vice president, with both domestic and international responsibilities.
In 2004, Gene became president and CEO of Western States Fire Protection (WSFP), a premier fire protection company and subsidiary of APi Group. In 2013, he was promoted to chief operating officer for APi Group. As he continues his involvement with WSFP, Gene shares expertise in leadership and business development across the APi Group span of companies.
He is active on several boards and committees throughout his community, church and the construction industry.
Outside of work, Gene enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife, Sue, his three children and their families.
