R.J. (Bob) Schoneberger P.E. is CEO and president of United Piping Inc. (UPI), a mechanical and general contractor that specializes in facility construction within the oil and gas pipeline industry. Schoneberger has been president of UPI since its inception in 1997.
Schoneberger graduated from the University of North Dakota with a BSME in 1980. Upon graduation, he took a position as field operations engineer with Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America (NGPL) in Mooreland, Okla.
In 1982, he worked for Panhandle Easter Pipeline Co. (PEPL) in Liberal, Kan., as division pipeline engineer. Schoneberger increased his responsibilities once he became the technical operations supervisor and area manager.
In 1989, Schoneberger began to work for Enbridge Energy (formally known as Lakehead Pipeline Co.). Schoneberger transitioned from the senior project engineer to the engineering manager, Chicago district manager, and the manager of right-of-way and environment until he and his partner, Dave Rickard, formed UPI in 1997.
Schoneberger is a licensed professional engineer (PE) in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and Kansas.
With the help of his employees, Schoneberger grew United Piping Inc. from a local mechanical contractor to a leader in pipeline facility construction and maintenance. UPI is known for its high-quality and technical expertise throughout the Midwest.
