March 29, 2011 - March 29, 2011 - The University of Minnesota and Mortenson Construction announced the selection of LeJeune Steel Co. as the steel contractor for phase II of the Biomedical Discovery District in Minneapolis.

The selection was made through a competitive process that reviews qualifications, experience, cost and safety. With extensive experience with pre-construction cost estimation, design assist engineering and construction of large projects, LeJeune stood out as the best team member to oversee the structural steel.

The Biomedical Discovery District is an expansion of research laboratory facilities on the twin cities campus. It will bring together scientists and researchers to collaborate in state-of-the-art laboratories to find cures and treatments to today's most devastating health conditions, such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes and Alzheimer.

The project is adjacent to five other structural steel projects by LeJeune, including: the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research, the Medical Biosciences building and the TCF Bank Stadium.
