September 3, 2014 -

This summer members of United States Alliance Fire Protection (USAFP) participated in the Illinois Burn Prevention Golf Invitational on June 3 at Willow Crest Golf Club at the Oak Brook Hills resort in Oak Brook, Ill. The event raised more than $84,000 for burn survivor groups and programs through sponsorships, members from the fire sprinkler industry, live and silent auctions, and prize raffles. USAFP was a gold sponsor for the event. The event has raised nearly $1.3 million for burn survivors in the past 19 years.

"With a nearly 30% increase in fundraising from last year, we exceeded our expectations for this year," said Fred Kroll, event chair and USAFP executive vice president. "Through the generosity of those who participate, we have been able to continue expanding our charitable giving to organizations for burn survivors not only in Illinois, but also nationally."

Money raised through this year's golf invitational was donated to the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance's "Camp I Am Me", a camp for burn-injured children; Loyola University - Stritch School of Medicine; From Tragedy to Triumph Foundation, an organization that provides college scholarships to former campers of "Camp I Am Me"; Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors; and Common Voices, an advocates' coalition for individuals who have been directly affected by fire.

USAFP will also participate in the upcoming 2014 Burn Center Golf Invitational in Wisconsin. USAFP will be a platinum sponsor for the event. This event has raised nearly $2.1 million in the past 25 years.

Proceeds from the golf invitational benefit Columbia St. Mary's Regional Burn Center, the Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety's "Summer Camp for Burn Injured Youth," and Newspapers in Education, which teaches school-aged children about fire safety.
